Want To Know More About Us?

That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. - 1 Corinthians 12:25-27

ARE WE A PART OF ANY DENOMINATION?

Houma Assembly Church is an assembly that bases its beliefs and teachings upon the doctrines and principles that Christ and His apostles established back in the first century. We are not Apostolic, although we believe in the doctrine of the apostles (Acts 2:42, Eph. 2:20). Neither are we Pentecostal, although we believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4, Acts 10:45-46, Acts 19:6). Nor are we fundamentalist, although we believe in the importance of the fundamental teachings of Christ, and that we would should have book, chapter, and verse for what we believe. We are disciples (discipline followers) of Christ (Mark 2:15). We are Truth seekers who are seeking to live like Christ.

Our desire is to have His mannerism, to have His attributes, and to be in His order. We are seeking to please Him and the Father daily in spirit and in truth. We are striving to be witnesses of Christ and His ministry (Acts 1:8, I Thess. 2:10).

HOW DOES THE WORD OF GOD APPLY TO OUR LIFE?

We believe every word, every action, as well as every reaction should be based upon the Word of God and being led of the Spirit of God. For a better explanation, we believe in doing the work of God. But what is the work of God? As Jesus stated in John 6:28-29, “This is the work of God, that you believe on him who he sent” or to be put it in simpler sense “...This is my well beloved son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” (Matthew 17:5)

We strive to be successful in Christ in every aspect of our lives. Whether it’s in our body, our soul, or our spirit. We believe in being good stewards financially as well as being successful in our financial endeavors, our academic aspirations, and our family lives. We believe that God’s people should live a joyous and prosperous life in Christ Jesus (III John 1:2).

WHAT ARE OUR CORE BELIEFS?

We have a core belief in walking Matthews 5, 6, and 7. Jesus states “ be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) Perfect here means mature. Let’s consider an example. We were all admonished by our parents to “grow up” or to stop being immature when we were children. We must also take this same course of action in God. We must learn to “grow up” to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ spiritually (Ephesians 4:13). So are we saying we believe a person can be perfect? Absolutely. We believe in being mature sons of God (Romans 8:14). Our goal is to grow into sonship so that we can get our inheritance (Gal. 4:1-7).
